Invisalign® is the best alternative to traditional metal braces on the market today.  Rather than using brackets, wires, and rubber bands, Invisalign® uses straighteners made of clear, flexible plastic.  They are just as effective as braces, but nearly invisible and a lot less painful to wear. Invisalign® is actually a custom-made aligner that is changed every two to three weeks for a period of eight to twelve months for most patients.  Similar to a retainer, an Invisalign® aligner is used for orthodontic treatment as a technique to shift and properly align your teeth for a beautiful smile. We use digital imaging so that you can see your smile with perfect teeth before you start the process.  The aligner is uniquely fit to your mouth. Invisalign® aligners are made of a very flexible plastic material, so your smile transforms brilliantly, and with less pain than traditional braces.

Invisalign® works quicker than traditional braces.  Traditional metal braces most often take an average of two years to achieve their full results.  Invisalign® can work in about half that time, depending on the scope of the problem!

Invisalign® is more convenient than traditional braces.  Traditional braces can also be more difficult because they are attached directly to your teeth.  Invisalign® aligner trays are removable, meaning you can take them out to eat or brush your teeth.  While it is recommended to wear them for at least 22 hours a day to get their full effect, it is still advantageous to have the option of removing them.

Visits to our office are nearly the same as traditional braces.  Just as traditional braces need to be tightened every two to three weeks, you will need to get a new set of Invisalign® aligner trays about every two weeks.

Aligner trays are less prone to breaks.  Invisalign® trays can break if you’re not careful with them.  However, it is far more common to have the wire give way on a set of braces or have a bracket come off.  When braces break, it means a delay in moving your teeth and an extra trip back to see us.

Are you sick of staring at your crooked teeth every time you look in the mirror? Do you feel ashamed or embarrassed to smile because your teeth are uneven and unattractive?

If so, are you finally ready to fix your crooked teeth once and for all? Well, now there’s a solution for you—

Invisalign Express® by our Bayonne Dentists!

When you come in for your consultation, Dr. Alter and Dr. Selevan, our top-notch cosmetic dentists, will discuss the benefits of Invisalign Express, as well as answer any questions you might have; but first, feel free to review the following questions and answers that our patients typically ask us.

What is Invisalign Express?

Invisalign Express is a perfect solution for dentists to treat less complex cases of crooked and misaligned teeth. This cosmetic dentistry service is perfect for patients whose case requires little teeth movement, only has mild teeth crowding, and requires a mild (to no) teeth rotation.

Also, Invisalign Express is a great solution for people who have had orthodontic braces in the past. For example, it can work great when the back teeth hit correctly, but there is minor crowding/spacing of your front teeth.

How is Invisalign Express different from full Invisalign®?

Invisalign Express orthodontic treatment uses a set of only 10 or fewer aligners to straighten your teeth, whereas full, traditional Invisalign usually utilizes more than 10 aligners (sometimes between 20-30 aligners). Standard Invisalign is used to solve the most complex and most severe cases of crooked and misaligned teeth, and, therefore, requires a longer treatment period than Invisalign Express.

How long does the Invisalign Express treatment period take?

Since Invisalign Express usually requires the use of 10 or fewer clear aligners to straighten your teeth, the minimum amount of treatment time is 20 weeks/5 months (not including the retainer treatment period).

What are some advantages of Invisalign Express?

Some advantages of Invisalign Express include:

  • Shorter treatment period
  • Fewer amount of aligners to wear
  • Perfect for minor teeth crowding and spacing
  • Sometimes less expensive than traditional Invisalign clear braces

What are some disadvantages of Invisalign Express?

Some disadvantages of Invisalign Express include:

  • Not all patients are suitable for the express treatment
  • Invisalign Express can only be used to correct minor problems (simple malocclusions)
  • No option for refinement

If you are unsure whether Invisalign Express vs. regular Invisalign is right for you, you must schedule your consultation appointment today. One of our cosmetic dentists has to evaluate the severity of your case in order to determine which teeth straightening method is best for you.

Regardless of which method you choose, you can look forward to a flawless, gorgeous smile filled with straight teeth—-that’s one thing you can count on!
