Dr. Jeannine Stephenson Buffong

Dr. Stephenson Buffong is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed a general practice residency at the University of Connecticut. She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA) and the Essex County Dental Society. She is also implant and Invisalign certified.

Beverly - Receptionist

Beverly has been working in our office for the past 9 years but she comes to us with over 25 years of experience in the dental field. She is the smiling face that first greets you when you first walk in the door. She enjoys interacting with and getting to know our patients on a personal level. Beverly is an invaluable member of our staff since she can carry out all front desk duties and is also a trained dental assistant with an X-ray license and CPR certification.

When Beverly is not working she enjoys cooking (her famous macaroni and cheese), shopping, and spending time with her grown children, Tanish and Terrell.

Kathleen – Dental Hygienist

Kathleen joined our practice 9 years ago as a dental hygienist. She received her associates degree from Essex County College and her Dental Hygiene degree from UMDNJ, where she graduated in 1997.

She really enjoys practicing dental hygiene and working with patients. She helps maintain her knowledge and further her education through many continuing education courses.

In her spare time, Kathleen enjoys reading, cooking, going for walks, and spending time with her husband, Rob, and ten-year-old son, Ryan.

Joanne – Dental Assistant

Joanne has been Dr. Alter’s dental assistant for the past 19 years; they are truly a team and work very well together. In addition to Joanne’s responsibilities as a dental assistant she is also in charge of all supply ordering. She has her X-ray license and is CPR certified.

When not working she spends time tracking down her children, who play travel soccer and various other sports. She resides with her husband, Eddie, their three sons, Edward, Andrew, and Kyle, and her Black Lab, Tory.

Janina – Dental Assistant

Janina has worked with Dr. Alter for the past year as a dental assistant but she comes to us with over 20 years of experience. She has her X-ray license and is CPR certified.

Janina was born in Poland and immigrated to the United States 25 years ago. She now resides in Bayonne. She enjoys camping, going to the beach and spending time with her husband, Kalan, four children, Magda, Rene, Kyler, Matthew, and her dog, Roxy.

Elizabeth – Dental Assistant

Elizabeth has been working with Dr. Alter for the past nine years as a dental assistant. Elizabeth has come out of retirement to comeback to work for us for the past few years.

She was born in Trinidad the “Land of the Hummingbird.” She moved to the United States 29 years ago and has resided in Jersey City for the past 18 years. Elizabeth enjoys crocheting, reading, cooking, and spending time with her four children and 5 grandchildren.

Maria – Dental Hygienist / Office Manager

Maria is a Dental Hygienist with over 25 years of experience in the dental field. She began her career as a dental assistant and continued on to become a dental hygienist. She went to UMDNJ where she obtained her degree in Dental Hygiene in 1987. Upon graduation she worked in both Periodontal and Prosthodontic practices. She began working in our practice 20 years ago. She enjoys working in this office because she loves her patients and the relationships she has developed with them over all of these years.

In the last 7 years Maria has also taken on the role of office manager which has been a nice change in her career. It has given her an entirely different look at dentistry and given her refreshing new challenges in her work environment.

When not working Maria enjoys reading, cooking, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. She is married to Andrew and had two children, A.J. and Marisa.
